Peter Weir

Peter has over 35 years of experience in catchment management and surface and groundwater hydrology (both in New Zealand and in British Columbia, Canada), freshwater policy and RMA consenting, both as an applicant and as a decision-maker.

He has held registration in Canada as a Professional Geoscientist and in NZ as a Registered Engineer. 

He was a member of the Land and Water Collaborative Forum 2008 to 2012 and in 2019 was appointed by Ministers to the Freshwater Leaders group during the Essential Freshwater reforms. He maintains membership of the NZ Hydrological Society and the NZ Association for Resource Management.

Peter is an accredited RMA Commissioner and will commence serving as a Freshwater Commissioner in 2024.
